About SRM University Chennai

SRM Institute of Science and Technology Chennai (SRMIST Chennai) was established in 1985 and was formerly known as SRM University Chennai. SRM IST Chennai is a private institute located in Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu. SRM Institute of Science and Technology is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). SMR Institute of Science and Technology has more than 50,000 students enrolled and the total faculty strength at SRMIST is 3272. SRM Institute of Science and Technology offers a wide range of UG, PG, and doctoral courses in engineering, humanities, medicine, etc. SRM Institute of Science and Technology is commonly known as SRM University.

SRM University Chennai has secured 20th rank in the medical category, 46th in the research category and 34th rank in the engineering category in NIRF 2021 Rankings. In the university category, SRM Institute of Science and Technology has been ranked 30th as per the NIRF Ranking 2021 whereas, SRM Institute of Science and Technology was ranked 35th in the same category in the NIRF 2020 Ranking. SRMIST Chennai has been ranked 15th in the pharmacy category. SRM Institute of Science and Technology has been ranked 53rd in the overall category by the NIRF in 2021. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has placed SRM University Chennai in the highest Category ‘A’. SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST Chennai) has been accredited by NAAC with a grade of ‘A++’.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology offers admissions to courses in four different levels – Diploma, UG, PG and Doctoral levels. SRM Institute of Science and Technology Chennai offers admissions to a total of 143 courses. SRM University Chennai or SRM Institute of Science and Technology has a dedicated placement department known as the SRM Career Centre. SRMIST provides the students with placement opportunities and training. Every year, more than 650 companies participate in the SRM University Chennai placement drive. SRM University also offers many scholarships to its students. SRMIST Chennai scholarships include both private and government scholarships. SRM Institute of Science and Technology has a total of four campuses. The main campus of SRM IST is located in Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu. Education Qualification SRM University Eligibility

Age Limit-

Candidates should be at least 17 years at the time of application.

Nationality-

If there is an Indian student who fulfilled the admission eligibility criteria for SRM then they are allowed to get admission here. NRI, PIO and OCI students are also allowed to sit in the SRMJEEE by regular category. International student category students are allowed to apply via different channels.

For all B.Tech study programs

To get Btech admission in SRM University, Students should be passed at least 12th board exam from science stream. Minimum marks required is 50% from any board (State Board, ICSE, CBSE) which is recognized by the Indian Government. The main subject should be Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

SRM University Admission

Admission to courses offered by the university will be invited only through SRMJEEE and SRMJEEM. Before the admission process students have to fulfill the admission eligibility criteria for the particular course. After that, students have to fill the application for the joint entrance exam and qualify with good marks.

Later on, SRM University will release the cutoff list and will be asked to proceed for admission in 2023. The entrance exam is not enough as you have to follow the admission process of the university. Contact us for detailed information.
